For Sumit, creating the perfect workspace wasn’t just about adding a shed to the backyard, it was about completing their home and supporting the life he and his wife, Gianne, were building together.
The inspiration came from close to home. “My partner has an incredible eye for interior design,” Sumit shared. “She found SheSheds and showed me the cabins. I loved the design straight away.”
From the very beginning, the space meant something deeper. “There’s a really clean, positive energy in the cabin,” he said. “That feeling mattered a lot to us.”

One of the standout features for Sumit was the natural light. “I was blown away by how bright the cabins are,” he explained. “That was a huge reason we chose SheSheds.”
Wanting to make the space even lighter, they added an extra window to their design. The result is a workspace that feels open, uplifting, and far larger than it appears from the outside.
“People walk in expecting it to feel small,” Sumit laughed. “But once they’re inside, they’re like… wow.”
Because their home sits on a hill, the build came with a few extra considerations. DIY wasn’t an option, so finding the right team of builders was key.
“Once we had the right builder, the whole process was incredibly easy,” Sumit said. “From start to finish, it only took about ten days.”
They chose a concrete base for the foundation, and throughout the build, the SheShed team played an important role.
“The SheShed team were amazing,” he shared. “Their knowledge really helped during the build, they know the product inside and out.”
Even when small challenges popped up, whether from parts or the realities of working with nature, SheShed support was always close by.
“Whenever I called, someone answered straight away and helped solve the issue. The challenges were sorted so quickly. We always felt supported.”
When it came to the interior, Sumit and Gianne had a very clear vision. “We didn’t want basic, off-the-shelf furniture,” he said. “We wanted everything in the cabin to mean something.”
Instead, they sourced unique pieces from antique stores, small towns, and even from overseas including items from America and Sweden. Many of the furnishings are handmade or locally crafted, giving the space a layered, eclectic feel that reflects their personalities.
Adding to the sense of community, their neighbours even built a deck outside the cabin, creating a seamless outdoor connection to the space.
With a young family, proximity mattered. “Having a workspace so close to home meant everything to us while raising our children,” Sumit explained.
The SheShed was a gift to his wife, a place where both of them could work, then simply walk back into family life by crossing the garden.
“We could work, then be home with the kids straight away,” he said. “That freedom and independence has been incredible.” The impact was bigger than expected.
“Honestly,” Sumit shared, “the SheShed changed my life. Our house felt incomplete before, like it needed something to finish it. The SheShed did exactly that.”
For anyone considering a SheShed, Sumit’s advice is practical and hard-earned.
“Do your research and get the right builders,” he said. “And really listen to the SheShed team and trust them. Their knowledge and experience makes a huge difference.”
Living in a high-wind area, he also opted for the storm brace kit, a decision he’s grateful for. “Our SheShed has been through two cyclones and it’s still standing strong.”
Today, the SheShed isn’t just a workspace, it’s a place that supports their businesses, their family life, and their sense of balance.
Clients are consistently surprised by the size, the warmth, and the character of the space.
“They describe it as beautiful, eclectic, just ‘wow’,” Sumit said.
