“To say the delivery guys went above and beyond is an understatement,” she said. “We have a narrow sloping driveway, and they placed the pallets under our carport with such care and precision.”
Building the cabin became a shared project, usually with three people working together, a setup she highly recommends.
“There were moments where we needed a bit of help finding or assembling parts, and the SheShed support throughout was outstanding,” she explained. “We even had a FaceTime call so the team could fully understand what we needed. There was never any rush, just calm, full support.”
The building was completed gradually over a few weeks, totaling around seven days and left her feeling proud and empowered.
Designing a Studio That Inspires
One of the biggest decisions came down to the colour. Yellow or blue?
“I went with yellow because it really stands out while still complementing the grey weatherboards of our house and garage,” she said. Inside, white was always the plan. “I wanted light, bright and practical.”
The interior layout was guided by function and flow. Storage for fabric and wool, furniture she already owned and custom shelving to keep every organised. The result is a sewing studio that feels both beautiful and functional.
“It looks divine,” she said. “The French doors allow access to the outdoors. The light, sound, the garden, the birds. It’s incredibly grounding.”
Even the family dogs have claimed the space, often lounging inside the studio or out on the deck, which she believes anchors the cabin perfectly into the garden.
A Dream Space Used Every Day
The Coastal cabin has become part of her everyday routine.
“I used my studio most days, even if it’s just for 30 minuets,” she shared. “I love how it feels whether its open or closed.”
With a reverse-cycle air conditioner fitted, the cabin heats or cools within minutes, making it comfortable year-round.
“It really is my dream space,” she said.
Friends and family love it just as much and her enthusiasm is contagious.
“I was only yesterday telling a friend about the joy of using it, and how easy the SheShed process was. I think she’ll be getting one herself!”
