Why Choose a SheShed for Temporary Accommodation?

Our cabins are quick to set up, sturdy, and meet Queensland’s Temporary Accommodation Building Code (MP 3.3) and New South Wales’ Local Government (Manufactured Home Estates, Caravan Parks, Camping Grounds and Moveable Dwellings) Regulation 2021 requirements, making them an easy and stress-free option during this challenging time. Whether you need a space for a few weeks or a few months, we can help you find the right solution fast.

Free Freight for People Impacted by Cyclone Alfred

To support our community during this difficult time, we are offering free freight for anyone in Queensland or Northern NSW who has been impacted by Cyclone Alfred. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to get a safe and comfortable place to stay while you rebuild and recover.

Can You Use a SheShed as Temporary Accommodation in QLD and NSW?

Yes! The Queensland MP 3.3 Code allows temporary accommodation structures like SheSheds to be used for up to 112 days with minimal requirements. If you need to stay longer, don’t worry—there are simple upgrades you can make to meet the necessary regulations.

The New South Wales Local Government (Manufactured Home Estates, Caravan Parks, Camping Grounds and Moveable Dwellings) Regulation 2021 allows you to put a moveable dwelling on your land or other land with the owner’s consent. You don’t need council approval for up to 2 years. If you are still displaced after 2 years, your council can extend your stay under the Local Government Act 1993. Council does this through its local approvals policy.

What You Need to Know About Temporary Accommodation Compliance

To ensure your SheShed is ready for temporary accommodation, here’s what you need to consider:

A Stable Base & Proper Siting

  • Your cabin should be placed on a solid foundation (e.g., concrete base or a raised platform 150mm above ground).
  • The site should be well-drained to prevent water buildup.
  • To make this even easier, we’re offering 20% off our Steel Foundation Kit, saving you up to $1,500. This kit ensures your SheShed has a strong, compliant base that meets Queensland’s temporary accommodation standards.

Adequate Sleeping Space & Privacy

  • Each sleeping area should be at least 5.6m² per bed.
  • If shared, there must be separate areas for male and female occupants.

Essential Facilities

  • Bathroom Access: A toilet, shower, and washbasin should be within 20m of the sleeping area.
  • Kitchen & Dining: Access to cooking facilities or a dining area is required.
  • Laundry: If staying long-term, you may need a washing machine and drying facilities.

Weather Protection & Safety

  • Fire safety measures are required, including proper exits and fire suppression.
  • Covered walkways should be installed if accessing shared facilities.
