When Jo, an experienced interior designer from New Zealand, sought to create a dedicated space for her growing business, she found the perfect solution in the SheShed Ranch Cabin. With its appealing design, easy-to-assemble kit, and versatile functionality, the Ranch Cabin offered everything Jo needed to establish a stylish and functional studio that not only met her professional needs but also impressed her clients.
Here's a look at Jo's journey with SheShed.
Jo was instantly drawn to the SheShed range after exploring the options online. “I really liked the look of them,” she explains.
“The concept of receiving the full set of materials required and building it yourself was really appealing.” The Ranch Cabin, with its spacious design and aesthetic appeal, was the ideal fit for the space she had available for her home office. Its size and layout allowed her to customise the interior to suit her needs as an interior designer, offering a dedicated space that blends practicality with style.
With a background in interior design, Jo knew exactly how she was going to maximise the interior of her SheShed to cater to her business requirements.
“I need a lot of storage space to house the large number of samples I hold, so the interior layout and design was largely based around this,” she shares.
Custom joinery, installed along the entire length of the back wall, provided ample storage while leaving other walls available for displays and a work desk.
The positioning of the windows at the front allows for an abundance of natural light to flood in while freeing up the remaining wall space for functional use.
When it came to painting the interior, Jo opted for a neutral colour palette. “I painted the walls and ceiling beams white but left the timber panels running along the ceiling to create some visual interest,” she explains.
The result is an inviting studio that feels both spacious and cosy.
Having a dedicated SheShed studio has been transformative for Jo's business. “It has been a game-changer,” she says.
“My suppliers and clients comment on how much they enjoy visiting, and I now have a purpose-built space for all things related to my work.”
Jo's clients have also expressed admiration for the light, bright vibe of the studio and the warm, cosy atmosphere. The thoughtful details, such as aged brass cabinetry handles and wall lights, perfectly complement the warm white walls and light timber finishes, creating a stylish and inviting space.
For others considering setting up a business in a SheShed, Jo offers some practical advice:
“It’s worth considering the nearest power source and related costs for when it’s time to install power to your cabin. Think about lighting and heating, as these will be required.”
These are some great tips, and this foresight can make all the difference in creating a functional and comfortable workspace.
Reflecting on her experience, Jo appreciates the high standard of service and materials provided by SheShed. “The quality of the materials provided is of a high standard - you can see and feel the difference when comparing to other options available.”
Jo’s journey demonstrates how customisation and thoughtful design can turn a simple structure into a professional and inspiring workspace.
