Painting your SheShed is one of the main ways you can really personalise it to suit your style. Not only that, but it's also actually really important that you do paint your SheShed once you've built it. The reason for this is it will maintain your warranty, help protect your cabin from weather damage and keep it looking beautiful for years to come. In this article, we're going to take a closer look at some of the latest painting design and style trends.
It's no secret that a white painted SheShed cabin looks amazing! It's one of the most popular colours our customers choose to paint the cabins and for good reason. It makes everything feel fresh, bright and airy. In fact, it's so popular we've previously written an entire article just on picking the right white (read it here).
The vast array of white tones means that white has this incredible ability to fit so many styles. Regardless of if you're looking for a cooler toned modern minimalist white, a warm luxe coastal white, or soft country cottage white, there's a white to suit you!
As a general rule, warm whites have a slightly yellow or beige undertone, which helps to create a cosy and inviting feel. Cool whites have a slightly blue or grey undertone, and this creates a more modern and sleeker look. Cool whites work well with homes that have a lot of natural light.
And if you want to make whatever it is you put inside the cabin stand out and be the star of the show, white is a great choice of interior paint colour too, it makes everything else pop!
Here are a few of our favourite white SheSheds.
In the words of Lizzie one of our amazing SheShed consultants at our Katoomba office, “SheSheds are an excuse to be a bit playful with colour” and we couldn't agree more. What better way to really put your own flair on your SheShed than with a pop of colour!
Bold colours can be so much fun and can really add the finishing touch to a specific style you might be trying to achieve with your house and landscape design. There is nothing more inspiring than being brave and committing to a bold colour pallet.
Below are a few of the standout bold colour choices we've seen.
Does black ever go out of fashion? We don't think so and it's consistently another really popular choice of colour we're seeing our customers use for their SheShed cabins.
Black offers a trendy yet classic look. You can achieve so many styles with it. We particularly love how it creates a modern rustic style that contrasts with its surroundings and highlights the landscape it sits in. It also contrasts really well with other colours like white for example. Black just seems to bring a sense of luxury.
There really is something so beautiful and inviting about the rustic aesthetic of a natural timber SheShed cabin. The timber slats that they're constructed from give the SheSheds such a warm and cosy feel about them. The texture, the wood grain, it's so organic and inviting. Stepping inside, it feels like a great big warm hug from your favourite Nanna.
It's important to note that varnishes & stains that don’t repel moisture or UV and don’t have an LRV value of greater than 40% are not suitable for use on SheShed products. More on this later.
These are some of the standout natural look SheShed cabins we've seen.
It is important to note that while the black painted and natural look cabins do look stunning, in most cases these options will void your cabins warranty. Our SheShed warranty only covers cabins that have been completely painted, with a minimum 3 coat system (Minimum 1 coat primer/ 2 top coats) on any timber surfaces including, but not limited to, doors, windows, walls, and facade components. The LRV value of the external paint, varnish or stain must be 40% or higher for the SheShed warranty to apply. Please note, black and very dark paint colours do not have a LRV value of 40% or greater. Similarly, varnishes & stains that don’t repel moisture or UV and don’t have an LRV value of greater than 40% are not suitable for use on SheShed cabin.
We recommend a paint system that provides a film thickness of 80microns minimum.
Our full Terms & Conditions can be viewed here. We recommend that you read through these prior to deciding which exterior finish you will choose for your SheShed.
If you're unsure, speak with a paint specialist about the LRV index and what is best suited to your climate and shed location. When looking for paints for your exteriors, firstly make sure it is a good quality exterior paint and secondly check the LRV index.
We've written a whole article on why you should paint your SheShed, you can read it here.
